[xmlroff] Smoke-test for xmlroff 0.5.4?

I would like to release the current code as xmlroff 0.5.4.

The most significant change is that it doesn't have the hardwired
dependency on CUnit.

I would like to think there won't be any problems because of the small
number of changes, but I also thought that about 0.5.3, where I
introduced the unwanted dependency.

Is anyone (ideally without CUnit installed) able to try compiling
xmlroff to confirm that it works for them?
